Precision edges, sharpened by hand and science.

The workshop

Who we are

Najd Blade Services is the first specialist sharpening workshop in Riyadh. Every blade is worked by hand on premium diamond and whetstones, leaving a hair-whittling edge designed to last, not a factory-grind approximation.

A knowledgeable knife culture

We want Riyadh to know its knives: what steel they hold, which edge suits them, and how to keep it. Every service comes with straight advice and answers to every question.

Material science, applied

Abrasives are chosen according to scientific criteria — diamond, ceramic or natural stone — and each blade is sharpened in line with what science tells us about how steel behaves at such extreme geometries.

FAQs

Logistics
How does it work?

Book on this page and tell us how many blades you have and what they need. We collect them from you in Riyadh, sharpen them in the workshop, and bring them back. Restaurants and butchers get an overnight turnaround: collected at closing, returned before prep.

Do you collect from my area?

We collect and return across Riyadh. Put your district in the booking form and we will confirm a time. If you would rather not wait for a collection, you can choose drop-off instead.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the knife and the state it is in, so we price each one after seeing it rather than quoting blind. A routine sharpen on a kitchen knife is the cheapest thing we do; a chipped or badly reground edge takes longer and costs more. We tell you the price before any work starts.

General
Which service does my knife need?

Most kitchen knives in regular use need Standard Sharpening. Choose Blade Thinning if the knife has been sharpened many times and now feels like it wedges in food instead of slicing. Choose Blade Repair if there are chips, a bent tip, or a rolled edge. If you are not sure, book anyway and tell us in the notes, and we will advise you when we see it.

Can you sharpen serrated knives?

Yes. Serrated and scalloped edges need a different approach, because each scallop is sharpened individually rather than across a flat stone. That is what the Serrated Sharpening service is for. Bread knives, steak knives and tomato knives all qualify.

Will sharpening damage my knife?

No. Sharpening removes a small amount of steel to form a fresh edge, which is how a knife is meant to be maintained. Damage comes from the opposite: grinding away far more than needed, or overheating the steel and ruining its temper. We work by hand and keep the blade cool, so the knife loses as little of itself as possible.

What about expensive or Japanese knives?

Those are what the Luxury Blades service is for. Hard Japanese steels hold a very fine edge but chip if they are treated like a soft European knife, and each maker grinds a different geometry. We keep the original angle and finish rather than imposing our own, and use the abrasives that steel actually wants.

Aftercare
How do I look after the edge afterwards?

Keep knives off glass, stone and steel surfaces, since those blunt an edge faster than cutting ever does. Use a wooden or plastic board, wash and dry by hand rather than in a dishwasher, and store them where the edges are not knocking against other things.

How often should I have them sharpened?

It depends entirely on use. A home kitchen knife used most days is usually happy once or twice a year. A professional line runs through an edge far faster and often wants monthly attention. The honest answer is to stop guessing and watch the knife: when it starts sliding off a tomato skin instead of biting into it, it is ready.

Should I use a honing rod between sharpenings?

Yes, and it is worth understanding why. A rod does not sharpen. It straightens an edge that has rolled over microscopically during use, which restores the bite without removing steel. Used regularly it buys months between real sharpenings. Use light pressure and a consistent angle; leaning on it does more harm than not using one at all.

Do you work with restaurants and butchers?

Yes, and they are why the overnight turnaround exists. We collect at closing and return the knives before prep, so a kitchen never stands still waiting on them. Message us and we will work out a schedule that fits your service.

How do I reach you?

WhatsApp is fastest, and there is a button at the bottom of this page. You can also email us. We answer in Arabic or English, whichever you prefer.
